Anyone for Dessert?

This is what I served up to my guests today for dessert. With such hot weather, who doesn’t love ice cream?

This is combination of a chocolate biscuit base, chocolate ice cream, hazelnut spread, vanilla ice cream combined with crushed chocolate honeycomb, more hazelnut spread, the rest of the chocolate biscuit base and finally caramel, honey and macadamia ice cream mixed with caramel popcorn. After it was left to freeze overnight I covered it with more crushed choc honeycomb, caramel popcorn and maltesers, and just for good measure, chocolate sauce AND salted caramel sauce.

It tasted as good as it looks – everyone loved it!

This was adapted from a recipe in a Family Circle magazine.

My Cats Garden is Nearly Done

Last year I was planning a garden for the cats.  Well, for them and for me.  They have a fenced-off area along the side of the house and I thought a narrow garden along the fence line between us and our neighbor would be nice for them and create some interest from the street view.

So recently, with a little bit of help to sort out the string line, I did the edging myself.  Maybe not absolutely straight in parts, but I am pretty happy with my efforts and I’m sure it will look fine once we have finished the planting.

So the dream becomes a reality.  Great – one more item we can cross off the “To Do” list!

After the Rain

2015/01/img_0444.jpg
Queensland is known as The Sunshine State and it has lived up to its’ name in the last few months with temperatures reaching 40oC and more – and that was just before Summer officially began in December!

So it was wonderful to get lots of rain recently and within about 3 days everything was lovely and green. It’s amazing how quickly the grass (and weeds) have grown and now everyone is mowing their lawns every few days. What a land of contrasts!

Happy to see cattle and horses grazing contentedly in emerald green fields. So pretty. I wish it could look like this all year!
