Simple Pleasures

We’re halfway through our river cruise and every day has brought us new experiences. On Monday morning we stepped ashore after docking at Medoc where we found that some local artists had set up their shops in an old chateau where we were able to browse their unique creations.

The real treat that awaited us, however, was a special tasting of lovely fresh oysters paired with a local white wine. Sitting in the shade of an historic building, French music playing in the background, enjoying some local fare, surrounded by art. A moment of pure, simple pleasure.

Foodie Paradise: Our First Taste of Europe!

On Sunday we arrived at our boat, the SS Bon Voyage and discovered a great food market right next to the boat. Honestly, I could have spent ages just taking photos, but I was too busy being completely blown away by the sheer variety of breads, cheeses, pastries and more.

So many choices, I seriously want to sample every single thing!

I’ve already fallen head over heels for potatoes sautéed in butter, those perfectly crispy croissants and so much more. My taste buds are doing a happy dance!

From Brisbane to Bordeaux

At 9.00pm last Friday night, our long-awaited European adventure began when left Brisbane and embarked on our journey to France. It was around 24 hours of travel, including a 4 hour layover in Dubai.

We were very happy to arrive in Paris, grab a macaron or two and stretch our legs as we made our way to the train station conveniently situated beneath Charles de Gaulle airport. There we hopped on the fast train and watched the French countryside blur past as we sped towards our first destination: Bordeaux.
